Transfer Credits in 5 Easy Steps

Transfer Credits in 5 Easy Steps

Are you considering a college degree that will set you on the path toward an exciting career in healthcare? TransferCollegeCreditSt. Vincent’s College offers associate (AS) degree programs to prepare you for three of the most rewarding careers in this field: Nursing, Medical Assisting and Radiography. It usually takes two years from start to finish to complete an AS degree. But if you’ve already earned some college credit, bravo! This means that you may be able to transfer credits. You could be ready to take a job in your new profession much sooner. The hard work you’ve already put into your studies will not go to waste.

St. Vincent’s College has a generous transfer policy. For example, in order to graduate from the Nursing or Radiography program, you must complete 72 credits. St. Vincent’s will allow you to transfer as much as 36 credits—that’s half of the required credits—from another institution (see Step 3 below). Here’s how St. Vincent’s makes it easy to transfer credits so you get the benefit of your previous college achievements:

Step 1: You apply online

Complete the free online application. This provides us with basic information about you so that we can offer advice and guidance that is tailored to your specific situation.

Step 2: You meet your admissions counselor

You will be contacted by an admissions counselor, by phone or email. This will give you the chance to ask any questions you may have about transcripts and other supporting documents you may need to submit. Your counselor will also be able to advise you about getting financial aid. He or she will ensure that the transfer process happens in a smooth and timely manner.

Step 3: We evaluate your previous college credits

Your admissions counselor will help you identify which of your previously completed courses will count toward your program pre-requisites. Courses may include English, math, psychology, and science courses. He or she will evaluate all the credits you earned to see which courses may be applied to your St. Vincent’s degree.

Step 4: You are admitted!

Once you are admitted into the pre-major at St. Vincent's College, you will also be admitted to the nursing or radiography major upon successful completion of the required prerequisite courses. You do not have to reapply to enter the program. You are guaranteed a seat once you have successfully completed the prerequisites. Step 5: You meet your faculty advisor

You will be assigned a faculty advisor to assist you in planning your schedule and reaching your personal and professional goals. The faculty advisor will be a faculty member in your specific major, and an expert in the field of nursing or radiography and healthcare education. He/she is knowledgeable about degree requirements and the standards for your program. He/she will help you plan a course of study that satisfies the degree requirements.
